Never had a level 99 character before...I figured I should try to have one because I do love this game a lot and I think it's time I tackle it this time around. I forgot to mention my alternative amulet. It's literally just there for me to teleport around if I need the mobility. That is why I don't need to use Enigma.

    I dunno, I thought the numerous, slow moving projectiles, along with the lack of quick switching, seemed pretty Doom to me. As for the parry not being very Doom. Plenty of folks said that about glory kills. I can't imagine it being as integral to combat as simply using your guns but we'll see. I'm not the biggest fan of first person melee combat but I expect it'll be a good game. Then again I'm pretty easy going since Eternal is pretty much everything I want in a modern, big budget FPS. I don't feel the need for anything to replace it.

    I didn't really like Doom Eternal, I got the gameplay and there were times where it really clicked with me, but I didn't even finish the DLCs. I just prefer the gameplay and pacing of Doom 2016, I'm hoping Dark Ages is more like it. But I have a feeling it'll be more of the fast paced style from Eternal. Here's hoping Wolfenstein or Quake can make a return soon so we can enjoy a slower paced shooter again!

      You're not the only one. As much I enjoy Eternal, I do feel like it did split the playerbase because there are a decent amount of people who loved 2016, but didn't like Eternal. I have a feeling Dark Ages is probably going to do more of that, but I'm gonna wait till we see more gameplay footage just to understand what kind of DOOM game it wants to be.

      @@SORROWANGIE If I'm being optimistic they might try to strike a balance with slower more methodical gameplay with polished fast pace moments/set pieces. Perhaps the speed of eternal will be limited to power ups idk. We shall see!

      I think you might be in luck this time around. Hugo has mentioned "streamlining" mechanics for accessibility. The lack of dodging and double jumping also suggests the game won't be as complicated to get into. I get the feeling they're trying design a Doom game as far from Eternal as possible, which I hope is the case. Eternal is my second favourite game of all time but I absolutely do not want id to make an Eternal clone. I'll happily enjoy that for years to come as is. Indie devs imitating it is also cool, but id need to continue innovating IMO.

    I was disappointed too... I dont feel Dark Ages yet. Would you try "Mercury: THE HEAT (01)"? That's a 3 map long campaign so far... I'm working on the 4th and 5th map right now...

      I finally played your campaign. First two maps. First one was good, and I didn't have too many complaints and it was much more polished than the second. Second one has potential to be another good one, but it needs better ammo balancing, and I think that section with valve switches needs some more fine tuning. The respawning heavy demons was kind of sucker punchy. I didn't like the magnetic shield mechanic, and it just feels like it made the level more annoying to play rather than adding dynamic gameplay. I also managed to beat the second level without dying to see how the ammo balance was, and it definitely needs some more ammo especially for the areas where you are fighting a lot of the bigger demons. Also, you are forced to finish the optional area to finish the level. Not sure if that is intended design or not.

      I am aware that Hugo said that, but I'm not quite on board on that comment yet. I'm personally waiting until they release like a gameplay video similar to Eternal's gameplay video back in Quakecon 2018.

    The fact that id software tries to make each Doom iteration unique is appreciated af. I love that they're exploring with new mechanics and new ways of playing. Also if dark souls players want to play a dark souls like game then this is definitely not it lol, there are so many other options if you want to play that. You're probably going to buy this game day one, play it and git gud at it and be like "huh, this wasn't that bad after all".

    I think at least one person at Id wants to go back to quake and reboot that franchise and I am positive that if they do make a new quake game then that game will feel more closer to eternal but I have a feeling they will simplify the gameplay while innovating on other aspects like traversal or maybe a non linear level progression, maybe some sort of form of open world?

      I heard somewhere that the modern DOOM games are pretty much considered a trilogy. I assume the Dark Ages might be the last DOOM title for now, and it'll be cool to see them come back to Quake. I personally think an Eternal styled Quake wouldn't be a bad idea too.

      @@SORROWANGIE also, they could merge quake 1 lore and quake 2 together to please all the fans since in quake you already travel through different dimensions. So there would be enemies returning from quake 1 and quake 2 as well as the look of the levels and some weapons from both universes. I would want the main protagonist to be quake 1 ranger though. Also the unique soundtrack by nine inch nails is important to quake 1, so to be honest I would prefer they didnt repeat the music style from the new doom games, even though it would sound great.

    Im sorry dude, but i do not consider the criticisms of the upcoming doom game to be valid. Saying its gonna be like dark souls because of the parry mechanic is so absurd. I've played most of the souls games and i can tell you that parrying isnt exclusive to dark souls. Other games do it too. Now that being said, Hugo Martin has said in the past that he is inspired by the souls games. So i dont think its a big deal if he is pulling from the souls or wherever else, as long as its good. It's also ridiculous to say that quickswapping is dead, when we've only seen it happen once or twice in the trailer. The game hasnt even come out and you're already saying quickswapping is dead based on the trailer alone. Another point to bring up is that a game franchise should evolve over time, rather than stay the same. If you want to play a franchise that stays the same, play call of duty or halo then, because these games arent for you if that's how you think.

      I personally don't mind a sprinkle amount of Dark Souls influences in the game, but juding from the trailer, it seems like the Dark Souls influence is much heavier for my taste. Obviously, it'll be better to judge once we have a gameplay video just like Eternal's gameplay video at Quakecon 2018. It should be noted that I fell in love with DOOM 2016 because it was obviously taking influences from the old games, but it was also trying to reinvent itself. I'm no stranger to the DOOM games especially it's some of my favorite series and I grew up playing the old games too. Juding from the trailer, it seems like it's kind of abandoning that creative direction. Hugo Martin recently said in an interview that the game will be more of a "stand and fight" experience rather than a "run/jump and shoot" experience from 2016/eternal which is a comment I didn't want to hear. Eternal sort of took inspiration from the old games, but the great combat system is definitely one of the main reasons why Eternal ended up being a game that I still appreciate even though it was a game that divided diehard 2016 fanatics due to the change of mechanics or removing some of the core elements of 2016 (Multiplayer/SnapMap). I could definitely be wrong on the quickswitching comment and you do make a good point that it's only one footage from a short trailer. But if you watch any skilled player doing quick switching on 2016/Eternal and then you watch the The Dark Ages trailer where doomguy swapped his nailgun for the super shotgun, it's incredibly SLOW compared to those two games.

    Considering how different 2016 and Eternal were to each other what the hell were you expecting? 2016 is bare bones FPS, Eternal is too over the top for it's own good and the endless micro managing of resources and weapon swapping every .5 seconds is tiring and boring as fuck after a couple hours. I'm glad they killed the Eternal play style, it was fucking garbage. Eternal on console was a completely hindered experience for everyone but the ultimate of sweats. If they made Eternal again they'd get flamed for rehashing the same tired ideas. They add new shit and you say "merrrrr it's a Dark Souls shooter now huurrr duuuurrrr". Why even bother putting this dog shit video on the internet?

He learned his lesson. One cannot put TOO MUCH GODDAMN RESTRICTIONS IN A DOOM GAME. Now, players like me who HATE fucking combos are FREE to beat the shit outta Dark Ages THE WAY WE CHOOSE as you remain a Doom Eternal's SLAVE. I am very satisfied.

    I just hope it is a bit more like 2016. Eternal felt more like an arcade puzzle shooter. It felt like I was forced to use every weapon just to deal with demons efficiently rather than what I found fun.

      Well thats the way the game was designed. Id software themselves were critical of 2016 and simply improved on the design with eternal. That doesnt really sound like a complaint more so as a bit of a skill issue

    I want the game to innovate. Having more of an Eternal is not innovation as Eternal has already pushed that style of gameplay to its limit. You can always go back to Eternal and play it. They decided to go on the opposite side not because they wanted to “attract the attention of DS fans”. I’m not even sure where you even got that idea from. Just because something is medieval doesn’t make it DS. The main thing I’m eager to find out is what’s the gameplay flow? What’s gonna put me in the fun zone? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not only a fast paced player, slow games also put me in that zone, so if the devs wants to explore and experiment on that side of the equation, I’m all in.

    Art style reminds me a lot of Painkiller. I think Dark Souls comparisons are far fetched, the gameplay gives off Shadow Warrior 3 vibes.

      I personally thought the artistic choice was fine. Matter of fact, the first few bits of the trailer, I could tell it was DOOM, so id nailed the art direction for sure. I'm kind of surprised you didn't get any Dark Souls vibes while watching the trailer especially back when Hugo was doing his commentaries during his Eternal playthrough, I remember he would mention various Soul games a lot, so it was hard for me to not mention the Soul games especially the more I watch the trailer over and over again.

    It’s a prequel and from the looks of it it’s based on the slayer testaments because they did mention the slayer did take a Titan down. It feels like hexen in a good way.

    99 is not equivalent to 1.09 92 if anything i think its an easier journey in newer patches it use to be cows were you couldn't just stand in a corner. and no one was hitting 99 in a week.

      Yeah, I heard getting 99 is much easier in Resurrected because of the Terror Zones and I am aware that before 1.10, cows were very good to level up to 99 or just spamming Eldritch and Shenk.

      @@SORROWANGIE you said the exact opposite in the video thats what i was commenting. on terror zones really only effect leveling when they are in high density zones and are best in the zones regularly used for leveling anyway. it is infinitely easier to level now than anytime in d2 lod's history.

      @@brandonprice119 In this video, I'm sharing my perspective/experience on getting to level 99 on the current patch of Diablo II Legacy (1.14d) which is very much similar to the leveling experience of 1.10. That patch was the version I first played Diablo II back in the day. To clarify my comment, I meant to say that getting to level 99 in the older patches is similar to getting to level 92 or 93 on 1.10/1.14. Not D2R.

      @@SORROWANGIE thats cool you just said it backwards then as you stated in older patches getting to 99 was so much easier it wasnt it was much more time consuming. baal runs are much faster and easier. i only brought up terror zones because you did.

    After making the Doom Eternal trophies, I wanted to make the Doom (2016) trophies. I tried to launch Snapmap mode today to do the last trophies that I'm missing... impossible to launch a map or create a map... I'm completely disgusted, I will never be able to get platinum ...

      Never say never. A serious issue with snapmap on Playstation had been fixed a year or so back with only a handful of reports, so, Report the issue with Bethesda support. Every report counts. The video description has the link to where you can submit a support ticket.

    Yes, submit a ticket. Since they bothered to release this patch in the first place, I don't see why there won't be anyone available to look into any issues it may have caused. As a side note, it also has made the installation process for snaphak a little bit more complicated, requiring you to roll back to the previous version because this update busted it

      Report the issue to Bethesda support. The link in the video description takes you to where you need to go to submit a support ticket. With how few people use snapmap anymore, every report counts!

    Is it me or is 2016's weapons and guns look and sound way better and cooler than Eternal's? Also 2016 had faster and more fun quick swap combos? Eternal slowed down quick swapping and you need Precision Bolt to make it fast, and the guns look and sound like quiet under mixed plastic toys. 2016 guns look and sound really heavy, beefy, and satisfying, metallic, and loud. I miss it.

      Hard to say because there are so many good ones that are made by the community and myself. I'll say HELLISH MAP06, BIOWAR - Die Heushrecke, ANTIVIRUS, Outcast M4, Sisters of the Sands, Sandy Crater, Secluded MAP12, and City Survival from the top of my head.
